Novosuelo ASTRA Kombu - Polymer stair nosing profiles

Profile with straight lines made of extra resistant polymer. This profile is multi-purpose and can be installed as a trim to protect and decorate the edges of ceramic cladding, floor separator, countertop trim, steps, etc. and has an innovative grooved finish that gives it a rustic character and improves its weather resistance.

The profile is installed during tiling work and is integrated into the cladding. The material also has excellent impact resistance, which allows it to be used as a profile in flooring and edges with guarantees. Available in five stable and durable outdoor colours.

Applications

Novosuelo/Novopared ASTRA Kombu is a profile suitable for all types of environments, both indoors and outdoors. This profile has been designed as a corner protector and can also be installed as a step in the tread and riser.

Thanks to the particularities of its material, this profile is particularly suitable for outdoor use in its different applications and even as a step inside the swimming pool. It can also be curved by controlled application of heat.

Material

ASTRA material is an extra resistant polymer, specifically developed to obtain the best performance in all types of environments, not only indoors but also in submerged, humid or outdoor environments. Thanks to the incorporation of biocides, which prevent the growth of mould, its performance in damp and submerged environments is excellent. The material also has an excellent resistance to impact, improved in formulation by means of various additives and a perfect balance in mineral reinforcement, which allows its use as a profile in flooring with guarantees.

The colours of the range are stable and durable outdoors thanks to the studied dosage of dyes of maximum solidity that preserve their appearance over time.

Installation

• Flatten one of the walls where the ASTRA Kombu Novosuelo/Novopared will be laid. Then spread plenty of bonding material on the remaining wall to be flattened and where the profile will be placed.
• Place the Novosuelo/Novopared on the angle and press the bonding material through the machined holes in the fixing flange.
• Lay tiles along the fixing flange pressing for optimum adhesion.
• Continue tiling until installation is complete.
• Wipe off any remaining material and allow to dry.

To install it as a step, proceed in the same way, placing the profile in one direction or the other depending on whether you want it to be on the tread or on the riser of the step.

Novopared/Novosuelo ASTRA Kombu can be curved by applying heat, being curved in both directions. To bend it, follow the steps below:

1. Using a hand cutting tool, make cuts in the flange section to be bent by opening the holes in the die. Wear cut-protection gloves.
2. Then take the hot air gun and put on heat protection gloves.
3. Apply constant and controlled heat to the section to be bent. Put the gun down and gently apply force with both hands to shape the curve of the profile. If you have help, both tasks can be carried out simultaneously.
4. When the desired curve is reached, the profile is placed in the installation.

Cleaning and maintenance

The Astra material is resistant to most common cleaning agents, although it is recommended to clean it preferably with water and neutral detergents. It is not affected by the correct use of bleach and is resistant to most common acids. If you wish to clean the grooved surface in depth, you can use a cleaning brush.

The use of organic solvents such as ethyl acetate, acetone or toluene is not recommended as they may damage the surface appearance.
